    Conception after addiction
    I am wondering what the long term effects of crystal meth use are on conception. I was a meth user for approximately 5 years but have now been completely clean for 4 1/2 years. I had a child during my active addiction so know that I was capable of getting preganant, and had a typical pregnancy and delivery. My question is if my past use (including injecting the drug) is making it difficult for me to conceive now? We have been trying since July of 2008.

    I cannot specifically answer your question, but I suggest calling your OB/GYN for a pre-conception appointment. At this time he/she can answer this, among other questions you may have. Since you've been trying since 7/2008 you might want to consider going to discuss that. Also, are you taking prenatal vitamins yet?
