My GE dish washer starts once the buttons are pushed and after 2 minutes stops - no water has been poured into the dishwasher.

Put your test leads on the wire that feeds the water valve solenoid under the front left corner of the unit. When you pres the start bottun do you get a power reading going to the solenoid?

Yes there is power - the dishwasher start as normal runs for 2 minutes then stops - there's no water coming in.

Did you test for power on the fill solenoid or are you just assuming power because the motor starts. I need to see if the fill solenoid is getting the signal to open.

You might be better off to call a repair person, sounds like you haven't done much around electrcial equipment or machinery, right?
