Puppy food for those with sensitive stomachs?
    Hi everyone!

I'm going to try to summarize this as much as possible. I've got a 16 week old Rottie puppy - with me for 4.5 weeks. She's had soft stool from the first day. On the day we got her and a day about 2 weeks later, I did see a small amount of blood in the stool. I was told that it was normal and not to worry, but I took her to the vet at the 2 week mark. Stool check showed no parasites and breeder gave me an antibiotic to give her. No more blood but still soft stool. At this weekend's vet visit, vet suggested I take her off everything but kibble and canned food (was also feeding her hard boiled egg, cottage cheese/probiotic yogurt and osteo vitamin introduced after a week). After 3 days of the reduced diet, it went from soft to liquid. Treats are usually dried chicken, so it shouldn't be a source of tummy upset.

Last night, I went looking for puppy food for sensitive stomachs. I didn't find anything at my local pet store, which carries a whole lot more of the better brands than the big chains. I ended up getting Natural Balance vegetarian food and mixing ground chicken breast/chicken livers in with it. Quick food changes usually upset the stomach, but the change helped almost immediately. The soft stool doesn't seem to be bothering her - she gained 6 lbs in the 2 week gap between vet visits!

Now I'm concerned that she's not getting everything she needs for the puppy growth stage. The kibble isn't made specifically for puppies, but I plan on getting puppy vitamins to replace what would be in the food. Also, I'd like to find something that's a little lower maintenance. :) I spoil my dogs, but I'm only hoping to do this until I can find something she can tolerate better.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Many thanks!

From my personal experience, I found that Natural Balance makes good food for sensitive stomachs.

I have been gradually switching my eight week old puppy from Pedigree to Purina Puppy Chow. She seems to have been pooping less, and having a harder time with it. This may just be an overreaction, but what should I do? Also should I give it a few more days to see if she goes back to normal?

My 13 week old German Shepard puppy will not eat her kibble. I've taken her to the vet and she is healthy. I have tried several brands of kibble including what she was fed by the breeder I am really getting worried. I have tried wetting her food, putting a tablespoon of wet and even chicken broth...
