    Vapor barrier behind greenboard.
    Hello:

In doing greenboard sheetrock in a bathroom, I have been told that I should not use a vapor barrier over the insulation for outside walls. If this is correct then why?

In addition is any problem expected if regular drywall screws are used instead of stainless
    Screws? What is recommended?

    Thank you for your input!

Hi I have a drywall company in green bay wi. You should put a vapor barrier which is plastic sheeting I would recommend the thicker poly and why are you using green board the only difference in the white board and the green board is the green board has wax sprayed over the paper and once you put a screw through it it would you lose the wax coating and it does get coated with regular drywall compound I would put regular sheet rock up finish it prime it paint it with a good quality paint be sure you calk around the tub and shower good and you should not have a problem plus the white sheetrock is about 1/2 the price

I've always thought the green board was overrated. If you use the right primer and paint, white is just as good. I'm not a rock pro, so I couldn't say about the barrier. I think it may be a bit overated too. A good faced insolation will work just fine(or so I've been told).
