Hi East... Is that pipe a black or copper colored pipe? And is it possible that the lip around the pipe is a lead ring?

To check, push a screwdriver into the lead... if it deforms a bit, probably lead (silver color).

If it is a lead ring you will need to get a drill bit of about the same width as the lead ring and drill a series of 3 or 4 holes next to each other (about 1" to 1.5" deep)... then take a screwdriver and see if you can pry the old lead ring up and out of the shower strainer assembly.

If that fails then you can simply drill out more holes until you finally clear the lead away. There will be an OAKUM material under the lead and that can usually be pulled up and out with pliers. Then the pan can be lifted.

If not like I propose...let me know more about the pipes in place and what kind of shower pan...custom cement or fiberglass or plastic?
