Does Allah allow for confession type forgiveness?
Hi,
A friend of mine was born a Muslim and has been living in Australia for 10 years (hes 28 now). Recently they have taken up praying and trying to become a proper believer. The reason I ask is because I want to know can one just 'go back' after years of sinning. Some of the things he has done include: excessive drinking, mistreating women, a child out of wedlock that he does not see, sex with many many girls, taking drugs and going to clubs. Even though he's praying he is still with a much younger girl that he is not married to, and which he brings home to his 'mother house' and has sex with her while his family is home and they can hear it too.
I would really like to know from someone very knowledgeable of the Qur'an if there is in ISLAM something like the Christian 'confession' principle where you can be absolved of your sins? I think he's only doing this so that he can belong to a religion/group of people. I find it hypocritical... what do you guys think? Thanks heaps and I look forward to reading your replies.

If it was not for hipocrites the church pews would be empty most sundays.
But that does not mean they can they can come to believe as they go either.
And in all relgions many go just to go and be part of a group,
I see nothing wrong with either if that is what they want to do.
And often as they do, they change their lifes for the better

hi Allah SWT forgives all sins accept for shirk (worshipping something/someone else). However Allah SWT only forgives you if your intentions are sincere. For example you cannot ask for forgivness then go out and do the sin again. Because this is showing that your intentions are not sincere. Allah swt states in the holy quran " as long as you call upon me and put your hope in me, i have forgiven you for what you have done and i do not mind, O son of Adam, if your sins was to reach the clouds of the sky and you was to seek my forgivness,i will forgive you. O son of Adam if you would come to me with sins that are close to filling the earth and then you would meet me without ascribing any partner with me, i would certinatly bring to you forgivness close to filling it"
Your friends sins can be forgiven by allah SWT if he wills, as like I said allah SWT is the forgiver, the compassionate and the merciful. It all depends on your friend, but he cannot ask for forgivness then commit sins as well. Sometimes we commit sins and we don't think of the consequences till after, we realise what we have done is wrong and then we repent and ask allah swt for forgivness. Repentance means being trully sorry and never doing it again.
Allah swt knows his real intentions anyway, as allah is the all knowing.

He is not at all following what's in quran he just following the ways of evil or sathan
If once he is realises his mistakes and prove to be pure on before the god,, then he will be blessed in heaven if not he has to be punished...
Praying him and doing sins is not a proper islamic
Rather than if v don't do namas or dhoa and follow his ways they are his pets... may be not in this world bt in heaven he is waiting for us to welcome
This is my view based on what I read from quran

Dear Friend,
You must be sure and everyone else that whenever someone is back with true heart and well, God will forgive everything as it didn't exist, but more, sins may become deeds, even if he killed someone!
39:53 Say: "O my Servants who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah. For Allah forgives all sins: for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
And
25:70 Unless he repents, believes, and works righteous deeds, for Allah will change the evil of such persons into good, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful,
Please let me know if you still have any doubts
