    Paper-metal corner beads
I have plaster-lath walls in my home. Can I use paper-metal corner beads for the (inside) corners, if so how do I apply them? I'm pretty sure with a nail through the metal right...

    Thanks for everyone's help again!

This beading is installed without nails or screws. Instead, apply a coat of sheet rock mud about 2-3 inches from the corner on both walls. Shape the bead to 90 degrees if needed and press into the corner with a plastic mud knife. When secure, apply another coat of sheet rock mud over the paper wings and feather out 3-6 inches on each wall.

    Hi pgm27

What is reason for the tape? Do u have cracks in corner?

I use a sanding block to square up corner. Then apply a bead of paintable caulking. Using a wet finger, smooth caulking=let dry and prime before painting.

    Good luck

Pmg27. I re hap 100s of plaster homes and I never need to use any beaded drywall tape. Here's and old re hap trick. Worst scenario to cover a big gap or get strength is use reg drywall compound and "structolite" and mix that in with the compound and reg drywall tape over that.
    STRUCTO-LITEŽ Basecoat - USG Corporation

Its actually the base coat for plaster repair to begin with. Added to drywall compound it stops shrink cracks on thick repairs.

You really don't want to nail to old lath if possible because of shaking the lath and loosening more plaster

For patching old plaster you should be using drywall products for big holes they should be repaired with easysand or durabond 90 and any taping in the corners should be done with drywall paper tape to do this you apply drywall compound in the corner both sides apply the tape in the corner it does have a crease in it wipe the tape smooth on each side let it dry apply a coat of drywall compound to 1 side of the tape get it pretty smooth apply a coat to the other side and smooth sand it a bit and paint
