Hello,
I have recently leased an old house in which to start a business. Discovered that the drain from the bathtub on the second floor is leaking and causing the celing below it to get soggy and also leaks all the way down the pipes into the basement. Repairing it will mean tearing out the wall and celing. Seems that I remember seeing or hearing about some sort of inner tubing that could be placed within an old pipe to prevent leaking without having to replace the whole thing. Does anyone know about anything like this?

I believe you're thinking of pipe relining. This is done in sewer mains and not small branch lines or water lines. But before you start to tear into walls and ceilings try this. Before you go to bed close the stopper and fill the tub with a few inches of water. Make a pencil mark at the water level. Next morning check the mark or see if the ceiling's wet. If the water's gone down or the ceiling's wet then you have a ruptured drain seal and it can be repaired with out tearing up anything. Let me know the results. Good luck, Tom
