Bathroom sink constantly backing up
What's all!
In my master bathroom I am having a constant issue. That issue is the sink is clogged all the time. I took the trap off and tried to snake it. Where the trap is, and where the pipe also is, it in not directly under the sink drain, should it be directly under it?
I also tried to remove the parts leading to the wall, but it is as if they are super glued and I don't want to force it off and break something. Is it possible the trap is bad? How can you tell if it is bad? The snake really didn't go down all the far neither. How far should it go? Felt tough too. I don't know, but I think I am rambling on!
Any additional information you need? Just let me know, this is just killing me here and I do not know what to do. I want to tray to fix it myself before I make someone else rich!

I would need to see a picture of your trap to understand what you mean about its placement. It is beneath the sink and should connect directly to the tail piece coming out of the sink drain. You need to use a small snake, either 1/4" flat snake or small drum auger. It should go in several feet to do any good. The pipe in the wall is likely PVC and yes it is glued, don't worry about breaking it while rodding.

Unless you have something exotic, the trap is simply a U-shaped pipe that goes down below the drain pipe level & then returns up to the drain pipe level. It simply traps water in the bend to block odors from the drain pipe. Visually inspect the trap & rinse in another sink to ensure it is clear. You may need to disconnect the sink stopper from the raising lever mechanism. With the stopper removed, there should be clear passage from the sink down the trap connection. Use the snake if necessary. There should be no need to remove the pipe leading into the wall. Running the snake through those pipes should clear any obstruction. It is my bet that you will find the majority of the clog beneath the sink stopper.

Let me show you how to snake your lavatory. You first open up the trap and remove the "J" bend. You then send a 1/4 or 3/8ths inch snake up the tail of the trap,(see image) into the wall. You'll run into a bend about 8 inches in but once around that you only have less then 6 feet more to put out. After you reassemble flush it out with hot water. Good luck, Tom
