    Where can I get a boat license plates?
    I live in Virginia. And I'm trying to find out where can I get license plates for boats. Or do you have to use your own license plate from your car for the trailer that holds the boat?

    In NY u have to register trail with DMV. Check with your DMV. They will have all the paper work u need.

    Hi,

    I do not live in Virginia but have had a boat and Trailer in three States, Mass - NY and Ohio.

    All of these States require the Boat Trailer to be registered via the motor vehicle office within the State.

    The Boat itself is registered via the Motor Vehicle office also.

    However, not all Motor Vehicle offices have a "Boat" registration department, had to search for one in Ohio.

    I suggest you "Search" via the nert for the offices and or call them.
