Can I get Recovery credit? 2007 NR, 2008 resident with wife nr
    Hi,
    I am F1 student for 6years since 2003.
Starting 2008 I am going to file 1040 as tax resident.
I file 1040nr in 2007 and did not get $600 rebate, neither did my wife.

This year I am going to file 1040EZ joint with my wife who has a SSN but still Non Resident so far in 2008.

Can I put $1200 as recovery credit line 9?
Or I can only put $600 or none.

    Thanks

You will not get recovery rebate if you file joint return and your spouse has ITIN.
You can file separate return to get recovery rebate (only for you). Then you can file amended tax return as joint return.

His wife has SSN. He is not sure about his wife's RRC because his wife is still NR.
I think he get direct answer from RRC information center website.

Are you sure RRC is no need to return if amended later?

If both have SSN, then on the joint return as residents you will get recovery rebate.
