Hi,

I recently purchased a sanicompact unit and have had it installed by a plumber. The job is nearly complete but I am not sure that the unit has been installed correctly. I have looked at the discharge pipe and I have a couple of concerns:

1) On the vertical run is it okay to have bends in it? I.e. initial vertical section followed by 45 degree curve then short straight diagonal then further 45 degree curve, and followed by further vertical section?

2) In the instruction book that came with the unit it shows a picture with 40 mm diameter pipe for the horizontal run after initial vertical run. This seems to contradict written instructions that state waste should be 32mm. Is it okay to have the horizontal run in 32mm pipe?

3) The connection to the stack has been made using a saddle clip rather than a TY connection. Is this okay?

Hi Brian.

I have studied the installation instructions and diagrams put out by the manufacture. Here's my opinion.

This is called a offset and is acceptable.


2) In the instruction book that came with the unit it shows a picture with 40 mm diameter pipe for the horizontal run after initial vertical run. This seems to contradict written instructions that state waste should be 32mm. Is it okay to have the horizontal run in 32mm pipe?

We never went in for metrics in my area but the specs call for a 1" discharge line. That works out to 25.4 MM.

3) The connection to the stack has been made using a saddle clip rather than a TY connection. Is this okay?
Yes, a saddle clamp is acceptable. Much less labor to install then cutting in a sanitary tee.

All in all I can find no fault with your present installation. Regards, Tom
