    Starter makes bad grinding noise
    I pulled out the starter and the teeth were ground off. I installed a new starter, and the same thing happened. The car is a honda civic with a d15b2 engine.

    The fly wheel could be the problem here. Did you keep using the starter as it was getting bad and by doing so messed up the flywheel the starter teeth mesh with. If the flywheel teeth are messed up then you will need a new flywheel.

    If the flywheel is in good shape then the starter needs shimmed. Look up that up or ask the auto store if there are shims available for that starter.

    There's really only two scenario here I know of.
