HP Pavilion 6000 Laptop Keyboard not working
I am having an issues with my HP Pavillon V6000 laptop keyboard. I had to do a repair due to windows installer error kept popping up every 10 seconds. When through the process of repair with no problem. After I did repair I restart and now I cannot log on because the keyboard is not working. I can only use the attached mouse. No button (caps lock, keypad lock or scroll) will light up after windows loads. It will let me use the keyboard in the advanced setup mode (F10) but no place else. I have taken battery out and unplugged for 30 minutes but still does not work. Windows loads but can only use mouse functions where there is a drop down list. How do I fix? I have also tried to restart in safe mode and still have the same problem. I tried to restore to last configuration still no luck. Thanks for your help in advance.

I would suggest trying an external keyboard to see if that works. I'm not sure it will.

Sometimes repairing Windows simply will not work. I think you should do a clean reinstall of Windows -- boot from the CD. Delete the "C" partition and then recreate it format the hard drive. Then proceed with the Windows installation.

I second what Perito said, if the keyboard works in windows setup and in the bios then it sounds like it's a driver problem. Formatting and reloading windows should solve your problem. However, if you can boot into the system bios and the keyboard doesn't work then you may have a physical problem. When the keyboard doesn't work try pressing caps lock. Does the light come on? Have you tried reseating the keyboard cable yet? To get to it, remove the battery and remove the silver screws which will allow you to lift off the top bar with the power button. There will be 2 screws at the top of the keyboard, remove those and the keyboard with flip up. I've had plenty of them come with either the keyboard or touchpad cable loose.
