It's very possible that you could have gotten pregnant. Certain antibiotics lower the effectiveness of the pill.

I think we need a few more questions answered. First of all am I understanding that you just started taking the pill for the first time 2 months ago? If so, what was your first period like when you finished the first pack? Did it come right away or take a couple days? The reason I ask is because sometimes when you are new to the pill it can take a few months for your period to begin like clock work. Once you have been on it for a while and your body adjusts they should become more on time and you can completely predict them. I don't think that having unprotected sex 3 or 4 days before your period would automatically cause you to "miss" that period because most women actually have one more period before they miss one and were pregnant at that time. To be sure I would take a pregancy test if I were you. If its negative and you never get your period then I suggest going to see your doctor because the incident that caused the pregnancy could have happened way before you realize.

Then you are probably OK, but please keep in mind that if this spotting does not turn into a full fledged period, then you may want to take a pregnancy test or go see your doctor. As I pointed out before, women who get pregnant always have one more period and you don't even know you are pregnant at that point. I know that sounds confusing but think of it this way, usually when a woman finds out she is pregnant she is roughly 6 to 8 weeks along. We women normally have a period every 28 to 30 days, so do the math. The period before the missed one, you were already pregnant. Make sense? So just keep an eye on this period and if it doesn't seem normal, take a test or call your doc.

This is not entirely correct. Some women will have some bleeding in early pregnancy, but it won't technically be a period. The majority of women will not have bleeding in pregnancy, at least not to the extent where it could be confused with the bleeding associated with a period.
When a woman is said to be 6 weeks pregnant, this is referring to the gestational period; counting from the first day of the last period. Part of this time the woman is not actually pregnant... it is merely used for dating purposes. This is why dates can be altered once a scan is done as this will be more in line with the fertilizational period; the time from actual conception. This is also partly why the time frame for giving birth will span several weeks... to take into account the differences between gestational and fertilizational age, as well as just individual differences in terms of the length of women's pregnancies... which are not all exactly 40 weeks longs.

DoulaLC, you are correct that is why I told her to keep an eye on what this spotting turns into or stays as spotting. When I said that women get one last period and they are already pregnant, I guess I should have specified what one may construe as a "period". Some will have some spotting enough to wear a panty liner and go oh you that was my period, wasn't very heavy but that was my period. And not even realize that they are already pregnant and what is probably really going on is the implanting of the embryo in the uterus because as I am sure you know, this can cause some bleeding. Whether it be spotty or slightly heavier than spotting. That's why I told her to keep an eye on this spotting. If it stays as just spotting, she may be pregnant already.
