    A/C compressor tripping outside breaker
I have an American Standard Allegiance 11 split unit that all of a sudden quit working yesterday. The interior fan will run but the compressor fan will not come on. Replaced the exterior breaker, as it looked like it was in the middle position (neither off nor on). Went all the way to on until I turned the a/c back on, then it went back to the middle. Any suggestions on what could be wrong and/or how to fix myself?

    Thank you.

Who installed the new breaker? I would have them check the compressor, fan, capacitor, wiring, of the outside unit. Don't recommend dealing with this yourself, as this is a high voltage unit.
