    H1B tax with foreign consulting
    Hi,

I have a full-time job with a company here in California. I was asked by a foreign company if I could consult with them for a couple of hours a month. Is that permitted under the H1B? My employment contract allows me to consult, but I wasn't sure if the USCIS allows it and I wasn't sure how to declare the income. Does it matter if I do the work in the US or if I travel to the foreign country to do the work?

I don't want to take this job if it endangers the green card process down the road.

    Thanks for any advice.

This is not really a tax question. You should speak with an immigration attorney.
