Old Jacuzzi tub pump shuts off
We have a large, (6.5 ft), quite old I assume (its funky red - lol) jacuzzi tub that came with the house. You turn the jets on with a lightswitch on the wall. The pump works fine for about 10 minutes and then it just shuts off. If you leave it on it will come back on again in a minute or two but stays on for a shorter period and so on and so on. Haven't let it go for more than about 4 times. The person we bought the house from thought it must be electrical and apparently had the switch changed - with little affect. I wonder if it is overheating and has a sensor of some sort to shut it off ? Any thoughts or advice would be welcome.

I'd go with your thinking, an overheating motor. Check via the inspection panel that the motor's air circulation is not blocked. If everything looks clean and clear the motor could just be on its last leg.

Yes all these suggestion sound correct motors have a built in thermal over load, this means that if the motor exceeds it's heat rating it will go out on over heat. The motor will run for a short time, shut down until it cools down below the over load setting and run again for a while, it will do this until it just stops working, which will be soon. Time to bite the bullet and get a new motor.
