    Non US Citizen
My mother has worked in the USA since Dec 1981, she has never been a citizen, but hold a GREEN CARD, owing to ill health she has had to relocate back to the UK, where her family is. My Mother worked in a hospital for approximately 24 years.

When she left she attended the pensions office and informed then she would be returning to the UK, they told her the monies could still be paid to her ina USA bank account, but it seems to have stopped now, stating that she is no longer in the country.

Can you please explain if this is correct?? If she does not live in the USA is she not entitled to her pension.

    IF so, can she appeal?

    Thanks

    Leaving the United States
If you are a U.S. citizen, you can travel to or live in most foreign countries without affecting your Social Security benefits. There are, however, a few countries where we cannot send Social Security payments. These countries are Cambodia, Cuba, North Korea, Vietnam and areas that were in the former Soviet Union (other than Armenia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Russia). However, exceptions can be made for certain eligible beneficiaries in countries other than Cuba and North Korea. For more information about these exceptions, please contact your local Social Security office. From the US Gov Social SecurityWeb Site.

Apparently since she is not a US Citizen, then the above rule stands. That is why they terminated her benefits.
