    Divorce settlement
I have been married for 20yrs in North Carolina.. I have helped my husband run his
Business for 15 yrs.. he has not paid me , so I am 110% dependent on him. If we end up in a divorce, I know I am entitled to 50% of all assests.. he wants instead of spitting the shares in the mutual funds, just split the money i.e. of this mutual fund has say 20K , then I get 20K of cash or 20K of another mutual fund... I say splitting the shares is theonly fare way to do it, because someone could get screwed...
Is he correct, or am I .

Face value is face value. It sounds like your splitting hairs over nothing. If the total adds up to 40k and its decreed that your entitled to 1/2 then you get 20k.
