Cannot figure out how to balance an unadjusted trial balance.
I am trying to balance an unadjusted trial balance and I can't. I have been given the answer as to how much my totals should be, and my credits are right, but I cannot figure out where I went wrong on the debit side. I am over by $44. I have a transaction in the form of sales discounts for $44, but if I move it to the credit side, it will only make my credit side wrong. Help!

Go back to your journals and make sure
The totals of the debitsequal the total of the credits.
Go back and check the postings to your General Ledger.
Make sue that evey account calculates properly.
Draw out a new trial balance and see how you go.
By definition the debits must equal all the credits.

Have you heard of the BRIDGING TECHNIQUE.
This is a technique of bridging on a spreadsheet the beginning and the end of
    All the balances.
Of course the middle contains the movements ,
Keep control of all the totals of the columns.
    See how you go.
