Trying to be in my sons life
I am new to this site my name is william I recently found out that I am a father of a three week old boy... now its not that I wasn't trying to be in his life while he was in her but I was constently in formed from HER that I was the father now. Now when he was born it was said to be her ex boyfriend of like 5 yrs so he was there through it all his name was put on the because... the boy took his name, but then he took a pt cause he had heard through the grapevine that I had sex with her around the same time.. so the pt came back that he wasn't the dad so I did one and it turned up mine.. so now my sons mother thinks MY SONs last name should be hers and I was wondering if there is anyway I can contest this to try and have my son with my last name so yeah if anybody has any info that would be great cause I ve been looking on the internet for like 5hrs and I think it would be better to hear from somebody then reading it off a page thank you very much

If you want to be in his life then you should talk to his mother. . as far as him having her last name... well... the two of you aren't married and she did carry him in her belly for 9 months and is going to take care of him so its only fair he has her last name... don't you think? You should talk to her... she is just trying to protect her offspring... its naturally...

Well, in order for her to change the child's name to ANYTHING that is different, she is going to need the consent of both parents, and that's you. You have a bit of leverage here since right now the kid has someone else's name. Have you spoken to her about possibly giving the child both of your names?

Has paternity been established by the court or was it a do it yourself test?

I think you should begin to take longer naps -

I DO predict you are going to be - minimally - suspended from this site and I would like to know what Court will be hearing the case when that happens.

In the meantime, try reading the rules of the site.

Don't listen to any of this junk Mr. McCasland is cutting and pasting on this board. It is total nonsense.

Think of it this way: this advice is to the legal profession what diet supplements and colon cleansing products are to the medical profession-- garbage.

And if you guys will stop "copy" their posts into your answer I can delete them a lot easier.

Most of the answers you were referring to have been deleted for various reasons,

There are times when a fathers right answer is the correct answer if that was the question, but not for every question,

Even this question, the answer should deal with proof of paternity, visit rights or joint custody and other issues,

Please merely report answers that are not on topic,

I would contact your local Department of Social and Health Services. They will help you with your paternaty issues and get you moving on the right path. Be your own advocate and for your son. Congratulations!
