    Dodge Ram Thermostat replacement
    How do I replace the thermostat in my 2001 dodge Ram pick-up truck, 2500, V8-5.9L?

    1. Follow the upper radiator hose to where it meets the t-stat housing, once
    It is located...
    2. Drain coolant from radiator till it is below t-stat
    3. Loosen clamp and remove rad hose from water outlet
    4. Remove bolts that secure water outlet and remove outlet
    5. Note the position of the thermostat
    6. Remove old t-stat
    7. Remove all traces of old gasket and any sealant from t-stat housing and
    Water outlet mating surfaces
    8. Install new t-stat in same position as old one was.
    9. Apply a suitable sealant to water outlet mating surface and press the gasket onto it.
    10.Reinstall it and tighten down bolts snugly {DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN}
    11.Reinstall rad hose to water outlet and tighten clamp
    12.Refill radiator with coolant
    13.Start motor and allow to warm up to operating temperature
    14.Check for any leaks at hose connection and t-stat housing
    15.After allowing system to cool down re-check coolant level in radiator
