    Deed over property to spouse
    I am buying a home in houston mortgage is current I owe back taxes on house, can I deed house over to husband and will I be resposbile for taxes owed? Or any liens if any?

    Normally taxes have to be paid at the closing of a home sale ( signing it over is still a sale) but if not paid, the husband would also become liable for the taxes.

    Normally you will not be able to transfer ownship if there is a lien unless that lien is paid off.

    If there is a mortgage you will have to get their permission first, since normally a transfer makes the mortgage payable in full.
