    Heating problems
    OK I have a 2001 carrier 58rav downflow furnace. The wheel on it was making noise for about a week or so and now it is flashing code 31 I try to reset it by turning off the power turning the thermo stat down wait 20 min and then turn everything back on. Then it makes a wineing noise and then does nothing.

    What wheel? Are you talking about the small combustion blower in the fronmt of the unit? If that is making noise or stops working then that unit will need to be replaced since the furnace will not work without it.

    Status code 31 is relative to a pressure switch, draft safeguard switch, or auxiliary limit switch fault. Which "wheel" is producing the noise - the combustion draft inducer, or the indoor circulating blower?
