7wk puppy diarrhea with blood but no loss of appettite/dehydration/depression?
hello everyone I am new to this site but very worried about my new puppy so thought it worth a go asking for advice on here!

Zeus is 7weeks old, we got him at 6 weeks fully weaned and on hard food. Since having him home with us he has two biscuit meals a day and a puppy meat packet meal which is all recmmended for his big breeding (ridgeback x boerboel). Every couple of days he gets runny poo but then the next it'll be normal puppy poo. I just thought it's the change in diet, home, his new sister (my other little one Princess Jayla a dachshund x parsons jack) all just upsetting his tummy a bit. But...

yesterday I noticed blood in his runny poo and more of it today, its not a lot but the poo almost looks more like vomit than poo it's a funny greeny brown colour and very watery... however what doesn't make sense is every now and then his poo is normal puppy poo and then later a runny bloody one etc its not consistent with every time he goes to the loo. e.g. in 12 hours he's pooed 6 times 3 runny/bloody and 3 normal. The normal poos have no blood and aren't watery.

He has still got a massive appettite as in will bite your hand off for meat! Wolfs down his biscuits too... hes drinking approx 2/3 small bowls of water a day as always.. this is more than my other dog but then she is not on dry food at all and I know this makes them thirsty. He is still running and playing, coming for cuddles, everything as normal so I'm a bit confused!! Everything I have read suggests he should be depressed dehydrated (hes not I've checked his gums) loss of appettite etc etc. when he sleeps he gets very hot and breathes fast but when he's awake he is cool and calm breathing so I don't think he has a temperature.

any ideas? I have booked a vet visit for tomorrow but would like to hear any feedback or advice you may have as I am going insane with worry!

    best regards, luisa xx

Has he been wormed? This sounds like you could be dealing with hookworms

. Hookworms can be dangerous if not dealt with. These tiny worms, invisible to the naked eye, attach themselves to the intestinal lining and feed on their blood. When they move to another spot it leaves a small bleeding hole which contributes to the blood in the stool.

This is JUST a likelihood! I am not diagnosing your dog, only your vet can do that.

I wormed him with a panacur paste from the vet I'm assuming this would do hook worms too? If not he's due for his next next week so I can ask them to provide something that would include this. Thank you for the idea, ill look it up!
