    Brokedown and broke
Hi, has anyone got a clue as to this. Tonight we had our central a/c running as it has been for a month. All of a sudden it gets hot in the house and so I changed the filter and checked the breaker. The breaker was fine and the blower is running but not the outside unit fan. I can't figure out what happened we haven't had any trouble with it at all no noise or anything strange until tonight. It has a electrical box outside with a pullout blade type fuse nothing looks abnormal in it. Now I did install a Hunter digital thermostat with filter alarm last winter. I did have to reset the filter alarm a few days ago. I tried turning the thermostat off and removing the batteries flipping the breaker etc. But the outside unit still will not come on and cool the house. Short on money is an understatement here so any help is appreciated. Btw it's a Coleman Evcon model #brcs0301bc serial # 960915522

Check to see if the fan turns freely by hand> Be very careful in case it starts up. It could be a bad capicator or the contactor coil could be bad. You need a volt-ohm meter to check these. Alos check fuses with meter. Sometimes the go and appear to visually look good.

The fan turns freely , There are no fuses inside the unit itself that I can see the blade type fuse that I spoke of only seems to be of a type to complete the electrical connection ( pullout handle ).

You need to test the fuse at the disconnect. Check the contactor for voltage Test the motor and capacitor. You need a volt meter to check these parts
