    Mounting a new celing fan
    Hi
I just moved into a new home and trying to mount a celing fan in the bedroom. The builder have already installed a wired mounting, so I had no problem mounting the fn, but wiring is another story!
There are 3 outlets coming out of the wiring housing:
First have 1 purple, 1 yellow and 1 white coming out
Second have 1 white and 1 red
Third have 2 red and a white.
When I first opened the box, all the reds were bunched up together with a screw cap, so were the whites and the purple &yellow together.
The fan had 3 wires coming out, blue for the light, black for the motor and white for the neutral.
When I connected the blue and black together to all the reds and the white to all the whites, the fan light was on, but the fan wsn't running.
Can some one please guide me on this?
BTW, switch in the room has yellow and purple connected to the top and 2 reds connected to the bottom.

Yellow and purple aside.. . If you have the blue and black connected to the same thing, and the light is working and the fan is NOT, then the problem is not with the wiring. Confirm the reverse switch is firmly in the up or down position, the fan is switched on, and all connections are secure.
