    Wooden deck coating
What coating can I use on a wooden pool deck so it won't be so hot in the Florida sun?

That's always a problem with wooden decks in the sun. paint it white or a lighter color. But now you have the slippery thing with the pool water and the paint would need an sand aggregate yo be non skid. A quad 0 mixture which is at the paint stores.

If that worked the other possible problem may be the chlorine effect on the paint.

The best fix would be add /raise deck post and lay a 2x? And the run rafters from side to side of deck. Let the rafters hang over the plates and Miter cut the ends. Kind of the Asians garden look. This would create indirect light and be paint free not to mention looking good Or just do post and a sun screening system with mesh

Another radical would but a nursery screening for over head ( one big piece ) and use that. This screening can be ordered with the amount % of how much sunlight you want to let through

A treated deck was installed in 2004, no paint or stain at this time. In 2006 I painted the top rail with an exterior wood paint. The painted surface is now chipping and flaking off. I am installing solid iron gates at a home a few hundred feet from a (brakish water) river in Florida. I had the gates powder coated and requested a satin or (at the most) a semi-gloss finish of about 15% to 30% gloss. Instead, the power coater did the gates in a high gloss. He claims that...
