    Hampton Bay Light/Fan Remote Only
I have an older model Hampton Bay ceiling fan and light that has been working flawlessly for years but for some odd reason will only turn the light on by using the remote. The light can be turned off by the switch but the switch will not turn the light back on. I have removed the batteries from the remote to try to reset it somehow but it still doesn't work. I "assume" the switch is OK because it turns the fixture/light off, just not on. Would really appreciate some help. Thanks a lot.

Um, but it just started doing this though. Is there a fix for this that you know of?

    Thanks.

No, most remotes operate this way by default.

Oh, OK, well I guess it was broken until recently fixed. I think I prefer it broken. LOL I hate the fact that the remote would over-ride the light switch especially if only when turning it on!

Not broken, some fans remember the setting, some don't. I've never heard of one switching before. It's possible there is a battery in the receiver that has died but I doubt it. Most people just leave the switch on and control the fan with the remote.
