F-2 visa and Bank Interest tax issue
    Hi,
I am on F-2 visa here in U.S (my wife is an International student on F-1). I filled W8-BEN with my bank which I earned some interest on my saving and CD during 2008 (about 300$ total). But the bank didn't send me 1099 INT. Needless to say, I am considered as Non-resident for tax purposes. I have two questions:
    1. I was wondering that I should ask the bank to duplicate me 1099 INT or they just didn't send it because I filled W8-BEN with them.
    2. Please correct me if I am wrong: I think I just need to fill form 8843 and although I have some Bank interest income, because I am an exempt individual ( F-2 less than 5 Year), my bank interest is not considered U.S income and I don't need to file 1040NR-EZ.
    Am I right?

Thank you in advance for your consideration

Yes, you will file Form 8843. For nonresidents, bank interest is not taxable. Also your total income (even after including bank interest) is less than filing requirement of $3500.
