Hi,
I am 5 weeks and 4 days pregnant and I am having some brown spotting. Its not enough that I have to use a pad, but im really scared. Im cramping a lil, kinda like when I first start my period, just not as bad and it doesnt last as long. I went to the hospital a few nights ago for the same thing, but they said it was only from having sex. Also that my cervix was closed and everything was fine. The spotting from that went away, now its back. I keep hearing that it is normal, but it's hard to get myself to believe that!
Is anyone else going through this?
Is this normal?

This exact thing happened to me. I started spotting when I was 6 weeks, only mine started brown then went to bright red. I went to the doctors, they did an Ultrasound, and found a heart beat and fetal pole. I am now 19 weeks pregnant with a little boy, my bleeding stopped all together around 13 weeks. Good luck to, try to relax. I know it is hard thinking something is wrong. Have you had an ultrasound yet?

It could be implantation bleeding that occurs around the time your period would have arrived if you weren't pregnant. Brown spotting is old blood and nothing to worry about, mild cramping is also fine, it often happens along with implantation bleeding. Don't forget your body is going through a lot of changes at this stage and needs to adjust, hence you should expect some symptoms.
If the blood turns bright red or increases enough to need a pad, or the cramping becomes very painful then go to a & e, if not just enjoy being pregnant!
