Really? That happens a lot in Nashville. I had a friend that wrote a song called "Designated Drinker", and did it at some writer's nights. Next thing you know, it is on the radio (Alan Jackson and George Strait song) I had a songwriter ask me if he could put his name on one of my songs before. He was co-writer of "Don't Take the Girl" by Tim McGraw. Bur yeah, you never know for sure who actually wrote a song, unless you were there. There are stolen songs, and sometimes just buy-outs to put a name on it, or royalty splits to simply put someone's name on it because they have clout in the songwriting circle.

I know, it's really tragic. He actually was playing this song at a small show in a bar one night and heard it on the radio a few months later. It's sad. But yeah, you never know.
