    Is it the drains?
My washing machine has been making funny noises and the water from it has been coming up into the sink with a foul smell. Our shower upstairs is also overflowing when we have it on full as well and our toilets keep getting blocked. Do you think this could all be to do with the drains??

    Hello Kazzer

You can be sure that somewhere your sewerage drain pipe is blocked. All the indications you gave point that way. Note that a blockage is never 100%. Note that water just builds up behind the blockage. And washing machines, toilets, and shower add a lot of water.

If you know where the sewerage pipe is running outside and under the house, than check the first water outlet in the house (from outside), if there the drain is OK.
If not, it must be the pipe from there and/or outside to the sewerage system/tank.

If it drains fine without any water building up, than follow the pipe inwards into the house and do the same with further water outlets, till you find where the problem is located.

You can buy a special flexible spring-type wire to push into the sewerage pipe at the nearest pipe inspection cover to unblock.

If you do not know or can not do that, just call-in a plumber to do everything for you.
    Success
