Pull switch installed on a switched light?
Hi: I would like to install a pull switch into a fluorescent light (one ballast) that is controlled by a wall switch. The flouescent light is at the end of the another light that is controlled by the same wall switch.

Can I switch this fluorescent light from the pull switch?

I understand that if I can do this it will be only be to be performed if the wall switch is on for both lights.

    Hello colltwo

Yes you could do this. Just mount a single on-off pull switch in the lightfitting.
Take one of the two wires to the lightfitting, connect that to the pull switch and run another wire from the pull switch to the lightfitting.
However, if you switch off with the pull switch, you can not switch on from the wall switch.

A better way would be to install a 3-way switching system. One at the wall, one in the lightfitting.
Ask your supplier if they can order a 3 way switch with a pull cord. They do exist, but are not normally available over the counter.

To install a 3-way switch system you have to rewire. So may be you like to stay with the simple system.

Have a look here for the wirng diagram with explanation.

If you still have problems, please let me know.
