    Can I use flex coupling in waste line
    I am installing a laundry pump in my basement and have to connect to my 3" waste line which is 5 feet off the floor. I bought two pvc repair couplings at a plumbing supply store to connect my sanitary tee to the main. These fittings go over the 3" main but are very hard to slide on my new pvc set-up. Do I prime and glue the main and hope to slide these couplings over my joints or can I use two rubber flex couplings with clamps to put it all back together? Any info would be appreciated.

    These fittings go over the 3" main but are very hard to slide on my new pvc set-up.
    Please describe the "new PVC setup" that the PVC coupling won't fit over. If you don't wish to use the PVC couplings I wouldn't use a flexible rubber coupling. Go with a No-Hub or a Shielded Coupling. (see images) More support then a rubber coupling, good luck, Tom

    I cut the existing 3" and added a "y" fitting to a new lenght of 3" pvc. I bought two new repair couplings at a different supply house( diff brand also) and these two slide right over my new pvc. I guess I glue both sides of the joints and slide these acrosss?
