    Dryer won't start
I have a KitchenAid Electric dryer and it will not start. When I push the start button it make a very slight buzzing sound but will not start. When I unplug the dryer and remove the back and press the start button it appears that the switch works (moves forward and returns) but when I plug it in and push the start button the switch moves forward but does not return. When I turn off the dryer the switch releases. Any ides on the problem?

gskaryak - here are (30 causes that very well be the problem:: #1defective -door switch:: #2- defective start switch:: #3defective timer switch:: ( this is only 3 out of 5 -that i can think of :: now to find out if one of these are the guilty culpret, you will need a( volt-ohm, meter) to test the switchs, you can go tio lowe's or home depot, in the electrical dept , they have them at a reasonable price ,about $ 10.00, make sure you get one that you can test thingsat least 250 volt a/c. #3-b-make sure the power cord is pulled out of receptical:: now set the volt-ohm meter to the (rx1-scale: you will ues this setting on all three switchs & leave power cor un plugged :: #3c-to test start switch :: now remove the control panel from back top of dryer: #3d- on theback of the swiotch : remove the heavy wires, clip the probs from the meter to the wire terminals <( if the meter reads {zero ohms} the switch is good ::if it reads high on the scale <then it is defective) ( replace); :#4 the door switch- note : if the switch is broken out of adjustment<or is defective :: the dryer will not start at all :: to test the door switch- #4 a-,lift the top of dryer up < you csan spot the switch easy< it will be a button or a lever<attached to the cabinet<: #4b- disconnect the wires from the switch< then clip the meter probs to the wire terminals<with your finger close the switch( if the meter reads {zero ohms} the switch is good ::if it reads high <then it is defective and will need to be replaced :: #5- timer switch- to test it #5a- disconnect one of the wires at the switch< clip the meter probs to the wire terminals of
The switch:: #5b- if the meter reads ( zero- ohms ) the switch is good ::if it reads high <the switch is defective ::replace:: #6- replace all the wires you removed ,then you can replace the lid,and the control panel ; hook the power cord back up ;;; good job :: i hope this has helped you and now you can use the dryer:: good luck <have a better day:: f.b.e.
