First things first I would write up a business plan. This will help outline your goals and concentrations for your business.

Afterwards you can find investors (angel investors and underwriters can help you). That would be if you wanted to start big. If you were to acquire money this way, you can setup shop and start some hardcore marketing campaigns.

Otherwise you can start small. Buy the equipment yourself, go onto craigslist.com and hire out a few good employees, and do some local advertising. Place flyers in mailboxes, on cars, etc. Customer service is key, because with your business, referalls are your best friend. They will not only have your current clients coming back, but possibly bigger and better clients in the future.

If you start to turn an income from it, place it back into your business and grow from there.

I would also recommend filing with your state as an LLC. This way if you were to "mess up" a job, they can only sue your business, not you personally. Don't want to lose your assets because you killed a cat by leaving cleaning solution out!

My first question is; is your new business commercial, residential or do you intend to do both? Each has different marketing aspects.

I agree that incorporating is the only way to go, I would also suggest that you also consider a "Sub S" corporation, helps with the tax situation.

I would also suggest that you type "Cleaning, Cleaning Business, Cleaning Contracts, Commercial, Residential, etc" into the search box on the top of this thread. There is a lot of valuable information in threads that have discussed this subject in depth.
