    My 4 month old
Ok I have a 4 month old. She is healthy but she is having trouble keeping her drinks down. She will keep her food down but her juices and formula she can't. I've set her up, laied her on her side, put her in her carseat. I've done almost everything I can think of.

It is getting me worried because she will throw up everything but still be hungry, the bad thing is that her belly is big and hard and I don't want to over feed her or feed her when her belly is hard.

Her doc. Said it was fine and most kids go through it. But when I asked around and looked up other kids mostly spit up, were she throws up. It's like the exercist. I'm getting worried about it and don't know what to do.

So I'm asking if anyone can give me advice about it.

If it were me, I would first try narrowing the cause down. Try no juice one day and see if that's making a difference. If not, maybe you should consider trying a new formula. I wouldn't give her anymore juice until you figure that part out; at this age she doesn't need it anyway.

You need to get her checked by an ultrusound on her pylorus muscle it is in the stomach.

The situation MIGHT be Pyloric Stenosis-my son had it, (it is more common in boys) the symptoms are very similar to what you describe-even the age-our son was 12 weeks it required a small operation -get it checked just for peace of mind! Immediateley-most doctors (GPs ) don't know of this you have to ask for the scan!
Her belly is big and hard because it is not passing through to her nappy /diaper-get this checked ASAP!

I have a 4 month old born 10/4 and he has had the same problem. I took him to 5 different dr. before they ever said anything was wrong. I knew that this was not normal spit up cause it seemed like too much and dr. after dr. told me he was fine as long as he was gaining weight. He seemed to be uncomfortable and cried more than my first son. Finally after 4 weeks of taking him to several doctors one finally told me to take him to Arnold Palmer Children's hospital. I took him and they ran many test. We were there for 5 days. They eventually found that he had an imbalance in his stomach acid production. This was found in a urine specimen. He also was diagnosed with reflux. He was put on prevacid which help a little but he has to now have surgery to correct the reflux and stomach acid problem.
Thank God I did not give up and just listen to medical pros tell me there was nothing wrong with him spitting up. Also, feel the babies belly button and press up to right where the rib cage is. If you feel anything that feels like an olive shape this may be a condition called pylorus spaydius. I happen to live in Orlando Fl, where they have one of the worlds best children's hospitals. Please take my advise and have a " G-I" scan on your child. This will test for reflux. Have his urine checked for chemical imbalances (these results will take about 4 days) and have a pediatrician check for pylorus spaydius. Please trust me! Do not ignore this simple spit up problem if you think its more than normal. You are the mother and in your heart you know if something is wrong. Fallow your gut and go to another dr. I don't mean to scare you but this could be serious.

Thank you all and I will get it checked out.

She has been switched to 5 different formulas and the one she is on now she is doing better on and the juice is really pedalight to keep her hydrated, I only give her 2oz's a day because she start running a feaver and her color starts to go away in her face if I keep her off it for more then a week.

I was looking at your page for the stretch mark cream and I also live in Sanford. If you want I can give you the contact info for the Dr. that finally found a solution to this problem. Buy the way, I'm totally getting that cream. Wow! That's incredible.

What has her weight gain been like? How is she acting after a feed, other than throwing up? How does she act in general... happy, active, content? Does she throw up after every feed? How are her bowel movements? Are you feeding her solids before or after the formula? How much solids is she taking and how much formula? Is the throwing up recent or has she done this for a some time?

Could be reflux... in most cases it is outgrown and you don't need to do anything for it as long as she is still putting on her weight. It often will bother parents far more than it bothers baby. Some formulas are designed to help, or some peds will suggest a small amount of rice cereal added to thicken the formula. Some will suggest an antacid.

It's a bit early for solids, so be sure these are kept at a minimum, especially if the throwing up has been fairly recent. How long has she been taking solids?

Having an underlying fever is something you need to have her doctor look into.

She has been throwing up since she was started on the bottle because I had to take her off me. And she only has been eating solids for 2 weeks but I only give her half a jar a day a qorter in the morning ad the rest at night.

She is a very happy baby until I put her on her belly and then she just cry's. And I'f I touch her belly on the right side. She does spit up some of her baby food but that's while I'm feeding her.

We tried the rice and oats but it doesn't help.

    Take her to the hospital!!

Have her scanned! What are you waiting for!

Is she outputting urine and stools? Has it decreased? If so, Got to the hospital and get an ultrasound of the pylorus!!
