Which piano course is really effective?
I'm learning to play a keyboard. And I'm learning by myself... but I would like to buy some course to continue my studies at home. I have good computer to use a DVD or CD room. I did a search in the internet and have thousands of books, CD, DVD, magazines, etc….and I don’t know how to choose The problem is that have too many on the market and I would like to hear from someone that really know about how effective they are. I practice every day at list 1 hour. …I’m not a beginner…I want to increase my knowledge and play better.
Thank you

Hi, Emasiles!
I'm sorry that no one has yet come along to address your question! I am just now noticing it myself! Even though I'm a professional musician, I don't get over to the Music forum topic area that much because most of the questions seem to be about who is the artist or what song is this? Occasionally, I do find people asking questions that fall into my sort of expertise, though.
Now, I'm not all that familiar with what's out there concerning learning by yourself on the keyboard or piano. However, I've been teaching private piano students since 1978. My favorite method book is the Alfred Method. I just did a search to see if there is a "Alfred Teach Yourself to Play the Piano", and sure enough, there is something available on a CD ROM. I'm not sure what level it goes up to, but I'm sure that it would be worth checking out!
Here is the link to my search. Alfred Teach Yourself to Play the Piano - Google Search
Now, if you would like some help on this site concerning things about playing the piano or keyboard, I can help you right on this site!
Please let me know if you're interested.
Thanks!

Hi, Cloug,
Because the answer came later then I expect, I bought a CD-Rom last week. EMedia Piano and Keyboard Method, but as I was looking it, the level is low in compare where I am now, so I'll buy the Intermediate level. Based in what I saw it is very good. But it is expensive!
I'm interesting your help, yes... please!
I have learned all the chords - C, D, E, F, G, A, B. And I'm learning the sus4, 7, 9,. but my real problem it's fingered some kind of music... I don't know how to press the keys in accord of the rhythm... it is very hard for me... what kind exercise can I do to help me with that?
I have practice some exercises, but somehow, these last weeks, I got very anxious about my progress, how I've being playing. It’s too boring!! Seriously, I was desperate when I left that question here!
Thank you for all help that you can give to me!

Hi again, Emasiles!
Do you mean that you've learned those, I presume, Major chords to play them in block style with your left hand in root position as well as the inversions of them?
I need to find out more about what you know. Would you be able to post an image here of music that you can play, please?
I don't know where you are, but where I am, right now it's about 4:00 P.M. I'm not usually on at this time of the day, but am usually on late at night. I'll be back on here in about seven hours. If you're able to be on then, we can discuss some options here. I can actually write exercises for you to do, but I need to know more about exactly where you're at in your learning.
I would really enjoy helping you!
Thanks!

Of course I am not a fan of trying to teach yourself, you learn way too many bad habits and often do try to learn the chords first not actually playing each hand as seperae notes
But the Alfred course is a good one, but with any course I would always recommend a real life teacher if only twice a month to help smooth out your playing
