Quitting your job has nothing to do with disability. Are you physically or mentally disabled? If so, you need to go to the disability office and file a claim. You also need a lot of doctor's medical records to substantiate your condition. You also need to remember that the first 6 months of your condition is counted as the waiting period and you will not be paid benefits for that period. Also, in some cases the benefits are not paid out for years and you can expect to be denied the first time you file as almost 95% of disability claimants are denied. After you are denied the first time, you are permitted to retain an attorney to handle your case for you. The attorney will collect their fee out of the money you ultimately collect from disability.
