    Furnace working erratically
Hi. I am having furnace issues and am hoping someone can give me some advice. I have a 1995 Honeywell gas furnace. It started blowing cold air yesterday and after shutting it off for a while it will work, just to blow cold air again in a couple of hours. We had the computer board replaced 1 year ago and the furnace tech was in today and said once again that seems to be the issue. At $300 a pop... I don't think I should be replacing this computer board this often. So, he suggested replacing the 14 yr old furnace instead of sinking money into this one (we are also putting the house up for sale in a month). Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I do not believe Honeywell makes a furnace but they do make furnace parts. Get the Exact brand and Exact model number off the inside of the furnace so we can be of better assistance.

I was certain it was Honeywell... hmm. Is DMO a brand? The Model number is HDS 70/60M Does that sound right?

The furnace control replaced a year ago that seems to be the problem is a White Rodgers Universal Integrated Furnace Control 50A55-843.

By chance, did the technician write the brand and/or model # on the service invoice? If the control was replaced less than 1 year ago, it should be warranted (at least the part, if not the labor).

He said it was only covered for 30 days after purchase. I just don't understand why we're having problems with this particular part. You'd think if they have such a short life span that I'd find more about them online, but I can't find anyone else complaining about them. I'm all right with replacing my furnace, if need be, I just want to make sure that it's totally necessary and not get taken for a ride.

Sorry, but that sounds bogus. Further investigation into the part warranty is merited. Most parts, other than filters, belts, media cartridges, etc. are warranted for at least 1 year. When was it replaced previously? Do you have a receipt?

Furnace burner keeps working even if the blower is not working [ 3 Answers ]

My gas furnace (Trane XL80) this morning started to smell like plastic was burning from the registers, I went to check the furnace and noticed that the blower wasn't working so I turned the breaker off. My question is, should the burner had to turned off if the blower wasn't working for some time?
