IL Speeding Ticket - 1st for 57 yr old dirver
Should I contest a ticket for doing 57 in a 45 on a main highway where speed alternates from 45 to 55 in various places - Lake in the Hills - McHenry Co, IL? Or do I simply pay the $75 and forget about it?

    Thanks

I know they use to give people a 2 to 5 mph leniency but I have heard they are cracking down on that.
You can always contest it. You may win or not. Never know if you don't try.

Pay the $75. You broke the law, despite what you think. A judge isn't going to care if it's 2 mph, or 20 mph, only difference is the cost of the ticket (well, and reckless endangerment for 20 mph over the speed limit).

    55 to 57 = 20 mphs over?

"contest a ticket for doing 57 in a 45 on a main highway..." If we're going to get nit-picky. I understand that he was not doing 20 over the speed limit. The reference to reckless endangerment was in regards to the penalty that could be incurred.

Ok personally I always show up and plead not guilty. Always good odds the police officer will not show up.

And normally fine the same anyway

If you've ever wondered how to get out of a speeding ticket. Just repeat what is below. After the police officer pulls you over for speeding, he should ask... Officer: May I see your license and registration? You: I don't have a license. I had it suspended when I got my 5th DUI.

I got my first speeding ticket today. I'm not sure if it means anything, but the officer misspelled my name. I was woundering if there is any law that states I can get out of paying since my name is spelled wrong.
