    W4 Personal allowances
    Hi,

We have got a new addition (kid) to our family this year. How many allowances I will get in W4, If I have a non-working spouse and a kid (5 or 6)?

    Thanks

Last year I had 3 allowances (Married without kid), I had a doubt in filling up W-4 since I am not sure the kid will be considered as dependent also (Line D). This is the confusing part for me

    I ll have the following

    A 1
    B 1
    C 1
    D ??? or 1
G 2 (1 Kid and income less than 90K income.

    Total 5 or 6?

If you claim 6 exemptions, you will probably end up paying when you file, which is NOT a bad thing, given that any refund is an interest-free loan to the government!
