    What is the law on probation AFTER restitution is paid?
    :confused::confused:

    Hi. I am about to make my final restitution payment tomorrow. I am a resident of Staten Island. I was sentenced for 3 years probation and restitution. This was my first and only offense.

    My question is: If you pay the restitution off even just a few months early, is there an early dismissal of probation??

    Hello M:

    You can certainly apply to be released early, but it's not automatic.

    If you only have a few months to go and have paid off your restitution, just keep doing what you are doing and stay out of trouble and your probation will be over soon enough. By the time the paperwork is reviewed by the Judge, your probation will be over.
