    Taxes and Disbility benefits
    Hi,

I receive SSDI (diability benefits) for my three year-old child in my name. Do I report this as income on my taxes, or do I file taxes for him?

    Thanks

If the checks are in HIS name, and you cash them as his parent, then NO tax return is required, because SSDI benefits, by themselves, are NOT taxable.

If the SSA puts the check in your name for convenience or (more likely) deposits it in your account, it is still HIS money.

Now, if YOU are disabled and you have other income sources, then it MIGHT be taxable income.
