    What Could happen legally to me for giving Pain Medication to a friend
    My friend's boyfriend took her Norco's(pain medication) from her which she left him for that. She suffered with chronic pain as I have as taken several pain medications in the past including Oxcontin, Methadone, etc. She was hurting really bad and her doctor would not help her with more medication. She asked me if I could help her because I suffer with chronic pain and take methadone. I did not want to do this but I know how it feels to suffer with pain. We discussed about the methadone and how it takes longer before you feel pain relieve. I knew she was taken 6- 10 mg Norcos @ a time. I gave her 10 methadone and she promised me she only take 1 methadone and wait 2 hours to make sure she understood that methadone is long acting and she knew this from taking it in the past. I told her that I would never do this again. The next day this police came over and she overdosed. I am so upset that I made that choice. I am scared for the legal choices. I have contacted my lawyer on this but need to know what could happen to me legally?

    I have moved this to legal from introduction area. In the introduction area you come and tell us about yourself.

    They can change you with a variety of charges.
    1. drug dealing
    2. a level of manslaughter ( assume the OD killed her) in that you supplied illegal drugs ( not legal to them) knowing she had taken too many in the past.

    You need the attorney and not talk to anyone without them

    Unless she left some sort of suicide note, you could be charged with manslaughter. You can also be charged with drug dealing. Someone must have known that you supplied her with the pills prior to her demise. In any event, your actions have ended another person's life and now you must pay the consequences. Get an attorney.

    Absolutely - in my State (NY) it's manslaughter and dealing.
