Is it in my best interest to keep a lawyer?
Hi. I am divorcing a man I married 12 years ago in California. I am already 7000 in debt for legal representation and I'm not sure I should keep paying. My husband and I have two girls, 7 and 9. He is about to get laid off and I still have a job. We never acquired any real estate property. All we have as property is furniture, he has about $5,000 worth of musical equipment (I have the reciepts in his name), he has new DJ equipment he paid between 4,000 and 6,000 ( I have no proof). He has a small 401k and possible life insurance. I do not. We have already gone to mediation and came up with a parenting plan. Our first court hearing is coming up soon related to temporary orders and child support. I can no longer afford a lawyer but I do not know if it is at this point still necessary to have one, given my circumstances. By the way, he has admitted to me to have started to work under the table. Any advice, please>

You may or you may not have a lawyer-it is up to you. But it is always better to have a lawyer than not to have one.
