    Tax form
    I am in F1 status upto: sep 31st, 2009. My OPT( Optional Practical Training) started in Oct 2008. Since Oct 2008 I have been working as a contractor.

    So , Can anyone please tell me what tax form I need to file
    1040 (or) 1040NR ?

    On F1/OPT you are exempt from residency for 5-years. You must file non-resident tax return and Form 8843. Your income is not subject to FICA taxes. Read: Your U.S. Tax Return: U.S. Tax Filing Requirements for Non-Residents

    You will need to file Form 1040NR with a Schedule C plus Form 8843.
