    Music problems
OK I have a problem. I love listening to music. And when I listen to my music, its kind of loud but not that loud. Well my mother said that if I keep listening to my music, then I will become grounded and get my iPod and my radio away for a month. Music helps me concentrate while I'm doing my homework. How do I tell my mom that I need my music to do homework. Can you please help me answer my prolem.

I think her problem isn't you listening to music, it might be that it's too loud. If you're using the headphones that plug into your ears those are the worst, especially if the volume is up. They are blasting sound straight into your ear. I've had friends that turn their iPod way up and have lost hearing. Maybe she just doesn't want that to happen to you. If that's not the case, show her your grades (if they're good that is), and show her that listening to music doesn't hurt your homework, if anything it helps your homework. I know what you mean, I always have to have music or something on whenever I'm doing anything.

Clearly you're playing it loud enough if you can still hear her, that's your problem.

Well I'm 16 now.. I've been carying music around with me for about 3 years now.

Believe me, if you keep on listening to loud music it will screw up your hearing - I'm not lying to you.

And besides.. music is one of the most distracting things when I'm doing homework.

It just doesn't make sense how it can make you concentrate more unless you're listening to something soothing like Mozart. (Hey, I'm no hard-core classical fan, but classical music does sound good).

Your mother only wants what's best for you - no one loves you more than her so take her advice.

    Peace,

That was my bad, I meant to say you're not listening to it loud enough.

I had the same problem man. I'd blast Pantera everyday when I'd get home from middle school, and every time the old lady had a conniption. She still does when I play music and I'm 23 now.

She's just being a mom, it won't change.
